New Hudson Youth Center COVID Protocols

A Message from Youth Department Director Liz Yorck

As you may know, we have not been able to utilize our gym space at the Youth Center for the last few weeks. The health and safety of our community is our top priority here at the Youth Center, and with that in mind after the first possible COVID exposure at the Youth Center we closed that space to reevaluate how to best keep your kids and our staff safe and healthy while using the gym.

After many conversations and careful consideration we have come to a decision about how to safely allow kids and the community to utilize that space. Moving forward, anyone who is 12 or older will need to provide proof of vaccination in order to be able to use the gym at the Youth Center. This does not mean that if your child is not vaccinated they can't come to the Youth Center. This is only the protocol for the gym space, where the activities make it more difficult to keep appropriate spacing for safety. If your child is going to turn 12 over the winter or spring, they will need to meet these expectations at that time as well. To meet the qualifications to use the gym, a participant must have received their second COVID shot at least 2 weeks prior to the date they want to use the gym. A record of said vaccination needs to be provided to our department for documentation ahead of time.

Linked here you will find the entire protocol outlined, including the mask mandate that anyone entering the Youth Center must follow. To share records of vaccination you may either email a digital copy to director@cityofhudsonyouth.org, or bring a physical copy to the Youth Center at 18 S 3rd Street.

Thank you for your patience and for your cooperation in this new policy.

Sincerely,

Liz Yorck
